Every January Soundwave Music Competition takes place in the North East which basically gives local artists and bands from any genre and background a chance to play at the 02 Academy in Newcastle and win themselves a chance to record original music in a top of the range studio.
Thousands enter which is then whittled down to 12 who become the finalists and all perform at the Academy in front of a audience and a judging panel of 4 made up from experts to radio personalities (which in 2014 included myself, not necessarily for the expert side of things!)
Back in 2014 I arranged with the organisers of the event to have every finalist come into Spark FM and have an on air chat and perform a live session on either Breakfast or Drive for two weeks. This meant that for two weeks solid I was stuck behind a camera and in the editing room making sure the turnover of live session videos was constant and on time.
This is the video produced for a band who I have become a big fan of, Shortside Avenue who are great group of guys who can put on an amazing gig! The interview and session is taken from Drivetime and was filmed, directed and edited into a package by myself.
If you want to check out more from the band, you can here
The interview was done by Thomas Hannett, who is currently working at Capital North East who you can follow here
